After two weeks of mother nature washing out six games, the Panthers were back in action for baseball against the defending League Champion SHP Gators for the bay opener.
4 straight hits by SHP and an overthrow to second got the Gators on the board first 3-0. Burlingame answered back with two more in the bottom of the first on a 2-RBI single by Alex McMaster; but it was innings 4 and 5 that Burlingame offense erupted.
Starting the bottom of the fourth off with a single by Tom McClure then Jacob Cilia reaching first by a HBP, who left the game due to injury and was pinch ran for (Brendan Magalong). A single to left by Noah Larkin combined by a booted ball from left fielder Enzo Pollioni scored McClure. Second run of the inning came on a precision-bunt single by sophomore Keunho Kim to score Magalong and chase SHP starting pitcher Parker Isaacson off the mound. Two outs by Reece Lindsuist later, third run came across the board on an overthrow to first by Yianni Gardner to score Cameron Kwong (courtesy ran for Larkin). Flores capped out the scoring in the fourth with a 2-RBI single to give the Panthers a 7-3 lead.
Bottom of the 5th saw Magalong grounding out and Kwong getting the backwards K on the scorecard. Next four batter in order, Kim, Lau, Aguilar, Clark-walk, HBP, single, walk. Flores added two more RBI’s to his total with a double to deep left field; he score two batters later on another error by Gardner.
Dominic Caprini notched his second win of the young season going 5 strong striking out two. Offensively, Keunho Kim a perfect 3-3; Elimio Flores 2-4 4 RBI’s were the tom performers for Burlingame.
