On Friday, February 14th, our varsity girls’ basketball team had a senior night against San Mateo high school. The game was significant for the varsity team as nine of the players are seniors this year. Before the game, Samantha Kershner said, “I want to focus on just having fun, it’s the last home quad and I want to remember it.” The strength of this team did not only come from the nine seniors, however. Kershner also mentioned that “we have a lot of younger players, and we have really good connections. It’s been great.” Their senior night was a victory. They won the game by a score of 53 to 44, finishing the last home game of the season successfully. Fiona Burns, one of the freshmen on the team, told me about her feeling towards the CCS championship that the team is preparing for. “We’re working on the defense, and making sure that we’re as efficient as possible on offense to maximize our potential,” Burns said. The team looks forward to having the same triumph at the first game in the championship, which will be on February 22nd, Saturday at BHS. Please come show your support for our girls’ basketball team.
